Youth Development Academy

Youth AcademyIn association with various sport's governing bodies, LINCSQUAD are in the process of setting up a Youth Development Academy to promote the world of multi-sport and prepare youth members for participation in sport. The Youth Academy's main aim will be to give local youth with the opportunity to try out various sport disciplines and progress to either the world of mult-sport or perhaps just the opportunity to excel in one discipline.

I am sure you have heard many times of various sporting heroes often coming into their chosen disciplines by chance or through a friend who dragged them to one of their training sessions.

At LINCSQUAD we really do push the limits of the term multi-sport and get involved in the following activities.

We also try and organise taster activity sessions where people can try even more sports such as

Coaching, Training and Development

The LINCSQUAD YOUTH ACADEMY will provide structured coaching sessions in cycling, kayaking, swimming and running for children from the age of 11 years old and to encourage participation in junior triathlons and duathlons, cycle, swim, kayak and run races, and to have lots of fun at the same time! If you are a parent then please feel free to actively get involved and become a part of Lincsquad.

Coaching Programme

LINSQUAD are currently developing a plan to deliver coaching in all four disciplines featured in Quadrathlon..

PHASE 1 Coaching

These sessions, lasting approximately 11/2 hours, will be taken by qualified instructors and coaches. Sessions will cost £4.00 overall, to cover facility hire, coach time and insurance. Parental consent is required for all athletes taking part in the sessions.
Please download, print, complete the forms and hand to the coaches at your first session.

The Duathlon cycling sessions will take place off-road within the park’s grassed perimeter therefore riders will either need to bring their own mountain bike or cyclo-cross bike and helmet for the sessions or hire a club bike and helmet. The Club has 15 mountain bikes and helmets to hire @ £1.50 for each session.
Please check your bike, helmet and clothing are appropriate for the sessions.

Go-Ride - British CyclingAppropriate trainers will also be needed for off-road conditions for the Duathlon run sessions.
It would be appropriate to bring additional wet/cold weather clothing (kit bag) and refreshments i.e. sports drink and snack bar.
The sessions will be split into two 45 minute sessions (with a 15 minute break) each focusing on discipline specific techniques and skills. Part of the sessions will also look at transition methods that can be used in competition i.e. duathlons, triathlons and also quadrathlons.
British Triathlon Federation - StarThese sessions will be linked to the associated National Governing Bodies (NGB) youth athlete development programmes ~ British Cycling Go-Ride and British Triathlon Federation Tristar. Advice and guidance on competition events will be available from coaches on request or via links from the club website ~ Events forum section.
Athletes can access additional information about events, training, club results and photo galleries via the club Forum (see Homepage for details on how to join).
Junior membership (U16) forms can be downloaded from the club website Membership section.
The club are actively seeking funding sources to be able to purchase additional equipment (bikes/kayaks), fund facility hire and the use of discipline specific coaches i.e. marathon kayak coaching.

PHASE 2 Coaching

When the club secures additional funding the final two disciplines that feature in a quadrathlon will be introduced into the coaching programme.
