April – North Lincs Sportive

The Paul Kirk Memorial North Lincs CycloSportive
Sunday 2nd April, 2017

COURSE SET UP ON SATURDAY AND ON THE DAY HELP NEEDED (FEED STATIONS) FOR THIS EVENT TO CONTINUE TO BE THE QUALITY WE EXPECT FROM A LINCSQUAD EVENT!

The Paul Kirk North Lincs CycloSportive, now in its seventh year is always a sell out so be sure to grab your place quick! Every year, we fight to keep costs down whilst improving the event and this year we have added CHIP TIMING! By using a more cost effective entry system we have managed to do this at no cost increase for the riders, the price is  £20 plus £1admin fee.
With three great routes on offer both the 100km and the 100 mile plus a new 43mile route. For the two longer routes the choice of which to follow doesn’t need to be made until you get to the split point of the ride, 45 miles in approximately, see how you feel on the day.
The introduction of the shorter is ideal for those who may be wanting to try out a sportive but feel the normal distances are just a little to far.
With our ever popular feed stations offering a choice of wraps by our friends at the Coffee Stop, tea, coffee, cake and SIS bottle top ups, we keep you going to the end whichever route you choose.
Can you afford to miss out on this fantastic season opener to the Sportive Season with this classic event, with some top notch routes and fantastic support!

Entries will be available on the day (subject to maximum entries limit) at an increased entry price of £25.

The sportive is organised by Lincsquad with all profits being split equally between the Lindsey Lodge Hospice & the Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire Air Ambulance Trust.

After the sad loss of Paul Kirk during the sportive in 2011 from a previously unknown heart complaint, the North Lincs CycloSportive was permanently renamed to ‘The Paul Kirk North Lincs Cyclosportive’. Paul was a keen cyclist and charity fund raiser and this is a fitting tribute in his memory. He was a regular fund raiser for the Lyndsey Lodge Hospice.Lindsey Lodge HospiceLindsey Lodge Hospice offers very special care for people in the North Lincolnshire area living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease. Every year hundreds of patients and their loved ones benefit from the care and support that they provide free of charge.

airambulance In February 2013, Lincsquad tragically lost a club mate, committee member & friend, Christian Brown, in a tragic cycling accident. Christian was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary in a critical condition by the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance but unfortunately he didn’t recover.

Both charities are extremely worth while and well deserving of our support, on their behalf, Lincsquad thank you for your support.

Competitor Withdrawal
If for any reason “the applicants“ who have already successfully entered an event find themselves unable to race and wish to withdraw from the event, the applicant must inform the event organizer in writing.

This must be done initially via e-mail to the organiser. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that their request has been received.

Applicants who withdraw no latter than 2 weeks prior to the vent will receive a credit note for 50% of the original entry value.

Please note the swapping of entries between competitors is strictly forbidden as it invalidates insurances undertaken by the promoters to cover the event. Athletes found to have passed or taken up another competitors entry will not be allowed to take part in the event and no refund or credit note will be issued.

Applicants not notifying the organisers of their wish to withdraw from the event within two weeks of the event or later, or who do not attend the race/event will not receive any form of refund/credit.

Will there be a map provided or posted here for the 100k please. If it’s not fully sign posted on the route you’re going to have some very confused riders! Thanks

    Hi there,

I wasn’t actually on the sportive but I ended up on the 100 mile route section into the wolds. There was a guy taking photographs half way up Walesby Hill and he got a couple of me, I was just wondering if anyone know who he was or where the photos could be found?

    1. David Hinch

      Try TWG photography.

I did the Festive Fifty in December 2015, a great ride, excellent feed stations and really helpful marshals. Well organised. The other thing that sticks in my mind, was the stinking, disgusting and squalid gents toilets at Brigg FC. Anybody that has worn bib tights will understand the problems involved. We couldn’t use the changing rooms for what reason? Are cyclists less responsible, less clean than footballers? I wouldn’t go back there again to watch a football match let alone attend a charity event. Those facilities were foul and not fit for anyone.

    1. David Hinch

Hi Max. The Festive Fifty wasnt a Lincsquad Sportive. We only organise the Paul Kirk North Lincs Memorial Sportive in April but as we do use the venue for this event your comments are noted and will be passed on.
