LINCSQUAD Junior Duathlon - Organised and Run by LINCSQUAD
Due to the massive success of the Corus Kids of Steel Scunthorpe event this month, LINCSQUAD have organized an event to encourage local children to take part in a competitive event against athletes from across the Yorkshire and Humberside region (British Triathlon Federation). The event consists of an initial run (athletic track), followed by an off-road cycle section and then rounded off by a 2nd run. Each Tristar category has been allocated set distances according to age group restrictions. Competitors may use their own bikes for the race (these must be off a mechanically acceptable standard for safety reasons; see: Bike, Helmet and Clothing Checklist). Mountain or cyclo-cross bikes are recommended as the cycle section will be on grassed parkland.
The LINCSQUAD Junior Duathlon has been well received by local schools, the local community and businesses (particularly CORUS Scunthorpe) and will be well supported by a team of club volunteers and support staff. This will be the first year we have staged such an race meeting and we hope to make it a regular calendar event which will also include junior triathlon and cycle road race events.
